Running of the Bulls

let the good times roll
let them knock you around
let the good times roll
let them make you a clown
let the stories be told
let them say what they want
let the photos be BOLD
let them show what they want
– The Cars, c. 1978

The Running of the Bulls 2011 is hurdling at us so fast, we can’t even keep up. Balconies are selling out for the 7th, Hotels are reporting full, ocupado, no vacancy, and other such disappointing words. This year is shaping up to be a big one, and is a sign of better economic times.

Last year, looking down from our penthouse terrace on Plaza Consistorial at the Txupinazo (opening ceremonies), we noticed that it was still possible to stroll through the square at 11:00am – something in previous years of San Fermin, would have been impossible. The crisis hit San Fermin pretty hard last year… we still had a great time, and the hotels all filled up, but you could just tell that there were significantly fewer people in town.

So, if the Running of the Bulls is any indicator… the global economic recovery is well under way.

Let the good times roll, indeed.

Viva San Fermin!
